Internal Ultrasonic Liposuction or External Ultrasonic Liposuction?

By: Robbie Darmona

Today, liposuction techniques are branching off literally overnight. There are more and more techniques and combinations of techniques used by different surgeons for producing the best effects. As all surgeons claim to have the most effective technique, perhaps it is useful to spread light over the common delusions that mislead patients.

Recently, the question about ultrasonic liposuction has popped up to the stage. This operation is often used as an addition to the tumescent liposuction technique. Ultrasonic liposuction is known to have two main types- internal ultrasonic liposuction and external ultrasonic liposuction. Some surgeons prefer using internal, others- external ultrasonic liposuction. The external ultrasonic liposuction is considered as bad as it increases the expenses and it is too hard to make. Other surgeons totally give up ultrasonic liposuction as an additional method because they consider it too dangerous for the body. However, the majority of surgeons who use ultrasonic liposuction in their practice prefer internal over external liposuction. That is because of the ultrasonic waves that are to a great extent muffled when internal technique is used. To get to the fat cells, ultrasound waves need to pass through other tissues, while in external ultrasonic liposuction they get to the point right away and may cause serious complications.

Some surgeons have even patented their own and unique methods for doing tumescent liposuction and the additional ultrasonic technique. They use special amounts of tumescent liquid, or certain frequencies of the ultrasonic devise, or they monitor stable temperatures, which they consider important for a successful operation. They also change the properties of the saline mixture, so that bruises and burns do not occur. These surgeons claim that using their methods reduces damage and trauma. Anyway, ultrasonic liposuction can be really dangerous and perhaps makes swelling and nerve-problems more persistent, if special techniques are used. But in comparison to ordinary tumescent liposuction, both ultrasonic techniques are beneficial with destroying of cellulite.

As every surgeon has his or her own version about using ultrasonic liposuction, you have only one option: choose your surgeon depending on his or her previous success with ultrasonic techniques. You can rely on experienced surgeons and their particular methods, as they are fully trained and very professional. You had better not select an inexperienced doctor, who uses the commonplace practice. Tradition is not everything and don't forget that experienced surgeons have substantial practice behind their back, so they would certainly know what they are doing, even if they use some strange approaches.

Some top surgeons would forbid using ultrasonic liposuction, both internal or external, as the risks are too great. They are assured that ordinary tumescent technique is best, as it leaves no permanent harm in the organism, and also causes less tissue damage and less bruising as post-operative results. The debate is basically about tumescent technique against all ultrasonic liposuction methods. Many surgeons consider tumescent as the best liposuction technique. Others include internal ultrasonic liposuction to enhance the results from the tumescent technique. There are also complementary combinations of different techniques, one of them is the super-wet technique, used to amplify the results from the tumescent and ultrasonic liposuction.
